about

This track is something I wrote as a freshman in college. I wrote it about a girl I liked. She was a wonderful person and I was an immature, surly, full of himself teenager who didn't know his head from his ass. We were friends until I wanted more. Can't blame her. I wouldn't have dated me, either. So I guess you could say this song is based on a true story.

Recently I started playing the song out at gigs and people really liked it. Which meant I had to put it on this CD so they could buy it if they wanted it. The guitar solo is almost note for note compared to the original guitar solo I played back in college.

Never heard what happened to Laurie, but hopefully she's doing well and is happy.

EDIT, June 2012 - Wow. I happened to find her website and Facebook page. Sent a friend request, but nothing back at this point. Hope I didn't creep her out or anything. Probably should have just sent a brief message instead. And if I never hear back, that's what I'll do. Thought about rewriting this page, but decided to just update it.

lyrics

Remember the times we spent together
in the hot summer sun
So how can you say that it's all over
how can you think you've won what never had begun
I really know now that you just don't care
and there's a wall up between us
I really know now that you just don't care
but it's too late to find someone who does

I just can't shake the memories that I should have had
out of my mind

So turn your back now and walk away
but keep in mind I'm not far behind
You have your life to lead, and I have mine
But do you know what you want to find...
I really know now that you just don't care
and there's a wall up between us
I really know now that you just don't care
but it's too late to find someone who does

I just can't shake the memories that I should have had
out of my mind
I just have trouble facing truth that hurts
Truth that I don't want to find
And oh... so do you
And oh... so do you
