Never Completely
03:04
|
|||
You take it for granted that I won't find out
One hundred percent you is what you're about
I don't believe this
What are you doing?
I can't believe a single thing that you
tell me, you want to come over and straighten this out
You're totally improv but never in doubt
I don't believe you
Why do you do this?
I won't believe a single thing you're gonna...
Chorus
say right now, baby right now
and you say, it's ok, you'll stay, you're tearing down my
walls right now, baby you give me your love
but never completely
I'm running in a race right now,
baby, right now i can tell that there's someone else
I'm taking second place right now,
baby, you give me your love
but never completely
never completely
You don't even hide it, well not very well
There's not too much thought in the lies that you tell
I don't believe this,
Wish I could leave you
I could forget the make believe that you
told me over and over I'm out of my head
But you can't remember the lies that you've said
I don't believe you
Why to you do this?
I won't believe a single thing you're gonna...
Chorus

Let Her Know
03:06
|
|||
I've seen you look at him with those beautiful blue eyes
But you never, ever looked that way at me
And I've seen the way you dress when you know he'll be around
But you never, ever dressed that way when you knew you'd be with me
I'd be the last one who'd ever tell you what to do
But if he's all you've ever dreamed of you'd be a fool to watch him go
And I'd be the last one who'd ever tell you what to say
But if he's all you've ever dreamed of don't you think you ought to let him know
I've thought for quite some time I might not end up with you
But I can't convince my heart that it's the truth
And I know for certain now that your love is somewhere else
And I know that you've been holding back your life to be with me
The way you talk to him
The way you act when he's around
I recognize the look of love that's in your eyes
I'd be the last one who'd ever tell you what to do
But if he's all you've ever dreamed of you'd be a fool to watch him go
And I'd be the last one who'd ever tell you what to say
But if he's all you've ever dreamed of don't you think you ought to let him know

It's Still You And I
03:56
|
|||
I don't care if the roof has holes
and the cars both die and the bathtub leaks
I don't care if the money runs out
and the phone and the TV are both antiques
I don't care if the sofa breaks
and the CD's skip and the cable goes out
I don't care if dog gets sick
and our humor and saneness are both in doubt
Through pain and loss and
joy and friends and
little achievements and
major setbacks and
everything right and
everything wrong and
everything in between
It's still you and I, oh yeah
Always together
cause it's still you and I, oh yeah
better believe me
It's still you and I, oh yeah
as long as I'm breathing
It's still you and I, oh yeah
I'll always love you
It's still you and I
I don't care if the doors won't close
or the fence falls down or the keys get lost
I don't care if the clothes don't dry
or I can't write a rhyme like Robert Frost
I don't care if the mower dies
or the weeds get high or the grass won't grow
I don't care if my strings all break
or my voice gives out or my speakers blow

A Hundred Million Times
03:19
|
|||
Tell me that I'm batting out of my league
Tell me I don't have a bat
You're totally perfect in every way
I'm pretty sure about that
Maybe I'm too optimistic
Swinging a bat is cliche
Asking you out's probly crazy no doubt
But I'm asking you out anyway
And I could be wrong
but I could be right
I could be onto something wonderful tonight
You say you're immune
to all of my lines
But I'm gonna ask you a hundred million times
Every day at the place where we work
You are the smile on my face
No one should be as obsessive as me
and I'm holding out hope just in case
So you told me that it was hopeless
But I think I'm your destiny
Give me a chance and I won't disappoint
And I'll show you the way love should be
And I could be right,
or I could be wrong
or I could be somewhere in the middle of this song
and I won't back down
though you've heard all my lines
Cause I'm gonna ask you a hundred million times
Day after day it's the same old routine
I ask you out and you smile
You say that I must like getting shot down
But you'll come around in a while
I've got a whole lot of patience
One day you're gonna be mine
I make you laugh, though you're laughing at me
But you're laughing and that's a good sign
And I could be wrong
but I could be right
And can I just say that you look wonderful tonight
You say that you've heard
the worst of my lines
But I'm gonna ask you a hundred million times

Last Kiss Goodbye
04:25
|
|||
I try to tell you but I just can't find the words
I'm so afraid of what will happen when you leave me
You leave tomorrow and I just can't stand the thought
I feel the pressure and the sense of loss already
It's probably true
I could spend the whole rest of this evening
Just looking at you
and waiting for the last kiss goodbye
it probably shows
I'm trying just to live here in this moment
And God only knows
How I will feel when you're gone
I try to tell you but you've heard my song before
There's nothing I could ever say to keep you with me
I guess that you'll move on and find somebody new
There's seven million other people in the city
It's probably true
I could spend the whole rest of this evening
Just looking at you
and waiting for the last kiss goodbye
it probably shows
I'm trying just to live here in this moment
And God only knows
How I will feel when you're gone
I try to tell you that it's all or nothing but you just wanna walk away
I try to tell you that there's no tomorrow but I just can't make you stay
and if I told you that I really love you what do words mean anyway
and if I told you that I'll die without you well i wonder what you'd say

A Guy Like That
04:17
|
|||
You're wondering why I'm staring at you
I'd like to look away but it's too hard and I can't help but stare
I know that guy you're with right now
I know he's self centered, arrogant and knows you're unaware of
all of his past girlfriends who he's
sat there in the photo booth with
All that stuff that he sees as romantic
all of his past conquests who he's
laid down in his bedroom where the
trophies on the dresser let them know how great that he is
chorus
What's a guy like that got over me
He's only killing time with you
and then when he's all through
(What's a guy like that got over me)
You will be just another photo
he'll add to his mental slideshow
You think that you've found happiness
(I'd) like to tell you (the) truth instead of sitting here and staring at you
I know he's gonna break your heart
I know he'll move on, forget you though it might take him an hour
You're impressed with everything he
says and does and he's so charming
Everything is practiced, it's all sleight of hand
You think you're the only one
but you should see his past collection
he's not gazing in your eyes, he's seeing if you pass inspection
What's a guy like that got over me
He's only killing time with you
and then when he's all through
(What's a guy like that got over me)
You will be just another photo
he'll add to his mental slideshow

Unconditionally
05:28
|
|||
We've waited for this moment to arrive
and now it's finally here
The way I'm holding you so close to me
it must be pretty clear - it's obvious
You're all I've ever wanted
and all I'll ever need
and everything I've wished for
and everything to me
You know that I'll love you
no matter what will be
You know that I'll love you
unconditionally
And there isn't another place or time
that I would rather be
And I could spend forever in your arms tonight
to keep you close to me - it's obvious
You're all I've ever wanted
and all I'll ever need
and everything I've wished for
and everything to me
You know that I'll love you
no matter what will be
You know that I'll love you
unconditionally

Not Enough
03:57
|
|||
You say you've got a problem now
so tell me, why should I care?
You say your love has left your life
so tell me, why should I care?
You say she took the stereo
well I guess I saw that coming
You really can't figure out why she's finally done it?
The way you put her down
You drove her out, you made her cry, you know
She lived her life for you
and now she wants to live her life for herself
But you don't want to see her go
It's not enough, it's not enough to want her back
You gotta understand, you gotta say it to her face
It's not enough, it's not enough to need her bad
If you really want to change her mind
a phone call just won't do it
If you really want to bring her back
a letter just won't do it
If you're really gonna say you need her
you better make sure you need it
If you're really gonna say you love her, then say it to her face
The way you put her down
You drove her out, you made her cry, you know
She lived her life for you
and now she wants to live her life for herself
But you don't want to see her go
It's not enough, it's not enough to want her back
You gotta understand, you gotta say it to her face
It's not enough, it's not enough to need her bad

Tunnel Vision
03:15
|
|||
I was driving without any dashlights
I was running without any hindsight
I was burning my bridges behind me
I was watching the world with tunnel vision
I really love you
I really love you
I blame this all on myself
I really love you
I really love you
I hope that there is still time to see this through
I was listening but I wasn't hearing
I was hearing but I wasn't trying
There was a problem but you never told me
I was too close, too close to see it
I really love you
I really love you
I blame this all on myself
I really love you
I really love you
I hope that there is still time to see this through
I never meant to make you cry
You're all I need to keep myself together
I need to feel you close to me
I feel like I'm lost in an endless admiration
I never meant to make you cry
You're all I need to keep myself together
I need you to forget this
I need your forgiveness and I need your love

Old Brown Hat
05:21
|
|||
When I was a kid my Uncle Bill
would always show up late
At family gatherings he'd sit by himself
and then to compensate,
He'd call me over, I'd sit on his knee
He always thought so highly of me
But everyone else ignored him
as far as I could see
They'd smell the alcohol on his breath
the smell was always there
But I was a kid and I paid it no mind
you know I didn't care
They said he spent all of his time at the bars
as far as they could tell
and he knew every bartender in town
and they all knew him well
Chorus
And Uncle Bill and his old brown hat
where the outcasts of the family
and they'd say "Don't grow up to be like that"
Yeah Uncle Bill and his old brown hat
where the outcasts of the family
and they'd say "Don't grow up to be like that"
Like Uncle Bill and his old brown hat
And then one year, at about six o'clock
The day before Christmas eve
He asked my parents if it was alright
If he could borrow me
And I thought we'd probably stop at some bar
(and) that's just what we did
And everyone stared as we walked in the door
Bill and this little kid
He took off his brown hat and passed it around
and everyone put money in
and when he left he gave them a smile
and they all smiled at him
And we went to clubs and bars all over town
at when closing time was near
It dawned on me why no questions were asked
The hat went around every year
Chorus
And so the next day he and I
we went downtown again
And we bought all kinds of different toys
and we 'til dark and then
we left presents on porches of families
who didn't have much to their name
And thinking of how bad that he had been treated
I started to feel ashamed
I wanted to run home and tell everyone
About the wonderful thing that we'd done
But he kinda smiled and shook his head
And this is what he said
"The spirit of Christmas is givin'
Not braggin' about what you give"
So he made me promise that I wouldn't tell
As long as we both should live
Chorus
